Learn to quiet your mind and relax as you slow down your breathing and awaken your body’s energy centers. There are many health benefits to meditation, including stress reduction, heightened self-awareness, mental clarity, and an enhanced ability to concentrate. This course explores various meditation styles to allow the students to choose the one that is best suited to their individual needs.
The most well-known type of meditation, mindfulness meditation, focuses on being present in the moment as students practice concentrating on the sounds and activities around them, not allowing their minds to wander.
Loving Kindness Meditation
The focus of this healing and therapeutic form of meditation is to increase a sense of well-being and improve interpersonal relationships as students work through feelings of hurt and personal challenges with others.
This type of meditation focuses on our inner divine being. Students begin to explore their individual paths to happiness and to identify and overcome self-destructive behaviors. The goal of this meditation model is self-discovery.
This meditation style focuses on a sound, an object, a mantra, or a thought to help the students harness the energy of the mind, using relaxing music, Tibetan chimes and chanting. This rejuvenating and motivating type of meditation helps students learn to focus their minds and harness their personal power to set and achieve their goals.
Movement meditation is extremely uplifting and relaxing.
Rather than focus on a sound, an object, or a thought, the students sit with their eyes closed and simply focus on the movement of their breath, freeing their minds and releasing stress.
Mantras are words that are chanted during meditation to train the mind to respond to them as a source of relaxation during stressful times. This session teaches the students basic mantras used to harness different universal energies and overcome challenging situations.
Chakras are energy centers or energy openings residing in our bodies that control the flow and distribution of energy. An imbalance in one of the chakras may upset an individual’s physical, mental, and emotional well-being. Chakra meditation focuses on maintaining and restoring balance in these energy centers inside the body. This type of meditation brings awareness of the importance of the interconnections of the chakras and the roles each one plays in maintaining good health.
The instructor guides the students to a peaceful place using the techniques of guided meditation. Students learn to clear their minds by focusing their attention on the imagery presented by the instructor. This practice is especially beneficial for those with busy lives who have trouble reaching a relaxed state of being.
This meditation method awakens your senses and makes you feel more alive as you learn to pay attention to the details of life and to appreciate the beauty around you each day.
